Frequently Asked Questions

Everything You Need to Know About OASITek Underdeck Systems

We’ve compiled answers to the most common questions about OASITek. If you don’t see your question here, contact our team — we’re happy to help.

Fit & Compatibility

Will this kit fit my deck?

Each OASITek kit is designed to cover up to a specific footprint:
        ● Kit A: 10′ x 14′
        ● Kit B: 14′ x 20′
To determine fit, measure the depth and width beneath your deck where the
system would be installed. If both dimensions fall within a kit size, that kit will fit. If your
deck exceeds those dimensions, consider installing additional kits in adjacent runs or
consult a Magnolia certified contractor for a custom approach.

What if my deck size falls between the kit dimensions?

If your deck falls between standard kit sizes, always choose the larger kit to ensure you have enough material to complete your project.

Can the panels be trimmed on site?

Yes - OASITek panels and wall channels are engineered to be field-adjustable with standard tools. The installation manual will detail where trimming is needed

What deck structures are compatible?

OASITek systems are compatible with almost all traditional deck constructions — including standard wood joists, engineered wood, and metal. Ensure your deck is structurally sound before installation.

What is the minimum clearance required beneath my deck?

To ensure proper drainage slope and installation mobility, a minimum of 3–5 inches of clearance below the joist is typically needed. This allows the system to achieve the necessary pitch toward the gutter without significantly reducing usable headroom beneath the deck.

Performance & Durability

Is the system fully waterproof?

Yes - Once installed according to instructions, the OASITek underdeck system is engineered to be 100% waterproof, capturing rainfall that falls through deck boards and channeling it into integrated gutters — keeping the space below dry during normal rainfall and snowfall.

How does the drainage system work?

The interlocking panels are installed with a slight pitch toward integrated gutters. Rainwater that falls through gaps in the decking is collected by the panels, guided down the slope, and into the gutter and downspout system, where it is safely routed away from your underdeck space.

How does the aluminum hold up to extreme weather conditions — from intense heat to heavy snow and freezing temperatures?

OASITek underdeck systems are manufactured from high-quality aluminum — a material widely used in outdoor architectural applications because of its ability to perform across a
broad range of climate conditions.

Aluminum:
● Will not rust like steel
● Resists weathering better than vinyl or plastic alternatives
● Maintains structural integrity in extreme heat
● Performs reliably in freezing temperatures, snow, and ice

Unlike materials that become brittle in cold climates or warp under prolonged heat exposure, aluminum remains stable and durable through seasonal expansion and contraction.

In short, OASITek systems are engineered to perform consistently in extreme heat, extreme cold, and everything in between.

Installation & DIY Experience

How difficult is installation?

OASITek is designed for homeowners who are comfortable tackling practical home improvement projects using common household tools. Each kit includes clear, step-by-step instructions and organized hardware labeling to guide you through the process. If you can measure, level, and make straightforward cuts, you can successfully install an OASITek system.

For those who prefer additional assistance, Magnolia certified contractors are available to provide support or full installation services.

What tools are required to install the system?

Common tools include a ladder, drill, level, measuring tape, chalk line, etc.
A complete tool list is provided in the installation guide for reference.
*To simplify the process and ensure optimal results, OASITek includes a few select specialty tools within the kit to assist with proper alignment and installation accuracy.

How long does installation typically take?

Depending on experience and site conditions, a standard rectangular kit installation can often be completed in 1-2 days by two DIY installers.

*Timing will vary based on site conditions and other variables.

Are detailed instructions or video guides included?

Yes - every OASITek kit includes comprehensive, easy-to-follow installation instructions. Clear diagrams, sequencing guidance, and labeled parts help build confidence and reduce guesswork. Video guides and additional support materials are also available to support the printed instructions.

Can I install this alone or do I need help?

A single experienced DIY homeowner can install the system; however, having a second person is strongly recommended for efficiency and safety — particularly when handling full-length panels and trim components. Two installers can significantly reduce installation time and simplify alignment during panel placement.

Customization & Future Upgrades

Can I add lights, ceiling fans, or other features later?

Yes - OASITek’s aluminum panel system is designed to be fully accessible when needed — without causing damage to the ceiling system. Individual panels can be safely removed and reinstalled, allowing you to access wiring or add mounting hardware whenever it’s convenient.
This flexibility means you can install your underdeck now and seamlessly add lightingceiling fansporch swings, or other accessories later — on your timeline.

What if my deck has an unusual shape or I want a different color?

If your deck falls outside our standard kit sizes, includes complex angles, or requires custom colors or finishes, Magnolia’s Certified Contractors can provide fully engineered, custom underdeck solutions tailored to your exact footprint.

Value & Ownership

Does this product add value to my home?

An underdeck ceiling system converts previously unused space into a functional, protected outdoor living area. By creating dry, usable square footage beneath your deck, the system enhances livability, market appeal, and overall property value.
Outdoor living improvements are consistently recognized as highly desirable upgrades in residential real estate.

While value increases vary by market, adding covered outdoor space is widely viewed as a strong investment in long-term property appeal.

What kind of maintenance does the system require?

OASITek underdeck systems are designed to be low-maintenance. In most environments, inspection and light cleaning every two years are sufficient to maintain long-term performance and appearance.

Is there a warranty?

Yes - OASITek systems are backed by a limited manufacturer warranty covering material performance and defects under normal residential use.
Because this is a DIY product line, proper installation according to the provided guidelines is required for warranty coverage. Full warranty details are included with each kit.
*For custom installations completed by Magnolia certified contractors, separate warranty terms may apply.

Code Compliance & Electrical Access

Is OASITek code compliant?

Yes. OASITek Underdeck Systems are designed with building code principles in mind — particularly regarding accessibility and serviceability beneath elevated decks.

While specific code requirements vary by municipality, most jurisdictions require that electrical junction boxes and wiring connections remain accessible and serviceable after installation.

OASITek was engineered specifically to respect that requirement.

Disclaimer: Code requirements vary by jurisdiction. Nothing on this website guarantees approval or passing of electrical or building code inspections.

Why does accessibility to electrical junction boxes matter?

Under most electrical codes (including the National Electrical Code / NEC), electrical junction boxes cannot be permanently concealed behind finished building materials.

If wiring connections are present beneath your deck — such as for:

  • Outdoor lighting
  • Ceiling fans
  • Outlets
  • Low-voltage systems
  • Future electrical additions

They must remain accessible for inspection, maintenance, and service.

Permanent concealment can create compliance issues and complications during home inspections or future renovations.

How is OASITek different from other underdeck systems?

OASITek is the first fully serviceable aluminum underdeck ceiling system in the industry designed to maintain access to the framing cavity above.

Unlike permanently enclosed soffit-style systems that trap wiring behind fixed panels, OASITek features:

  • Removable aluminum ceiling panels
  • Non-destructive access capability
  • Engineered panel system that allows future servicing
  • Clean architectural finish without sacrificing compliance

This means electrical junction boxes and connections remain accessible when needed — without tearing out or damaging the ceiling system.

What does “fully serviceable” mean?

“Fully serviceable” means individual ceiling panels can be removed to access:

  • Electrical junction boxes
  • Wiring connections
  • Structural framing
  • Plumbing or drainage lines (if present)

Panels can be reinstalled cleanly after service is complete — preserving the integrity and appearance of the finished ceiling.

Does this guarantee I pass inspection?

Building codes and inspection standards vary by location. OASITek is engineered to align with accessibility requirements common to U.S. electrical codes; however, homeowners are responsible for confirming compliance with local building officials.

We always recommend:

  • Checking with your local municipality
  • Confirming electrical installations are properly permitted
  • Having work performed by licensed professionals where required

Why was OASITek designed this way?

OASITek was developed by Magnolia Underdecks — a manufacturer with over 20 years of experience in professional aluminum underdeck systems.

Through decades of installations, we saw the challenges created by permanently enclosed systems that made servicing electrical components difficult or impossible.

OASITek was engineered differently — delivering:

  • Premium aluminum construction
  • Clean architectural finish
  • DIY-friendly installation
  • Code-conscious accessibility
  • Long-term serviceability

Luxury should never compromise compliance.

Ordering & Delivery

Can I purchase OASITek locally and pick it up?

OASITek systems are currently stocked in select local lumber yards, and we are continually expanding our lumber yard partnerships. We recommend checking with your local lumber yard first to see if OASITek is available in your area. If it is not currently stocked, you can order directly through our website and have the system delivered to your home.

What is the lead time?

Standard kit sizes allow for shorter production timelines, typically 1-3 weeks depending on location.

How is the kit packaged and shipped?

Each OASITek kit is carefully packaged to protect aluminum panels and components during transit. Panels are wrapped, bundled and secured to prevent movement, and hardware is clearly labeled and organized for straightforward installation.

Online orders ship via freight carrier and are delivered curbside. Customers receive tracking information and delivery coordination details (directly from the shipping company) prior to arrival.

Yes — it’s the same commitment to durability and performance.

The difference isn’t quality. It’s delivery.

Magnolia is fully custom and professionally installed.
Oasitek is streamlined and designed for DIY.

Both are engineered to create a dry, finished space beneath your deck — you just choose the experience that fits you.
